AW: [jdom-interest] Why does passing a document through a socket sometimes hang the parser?

By the way: I am working hard understanding this FAQ entry.
I am not aware I am using a socket if I have a servlet that tries to read in
a XML document and I call the builder method just with the filename?
Wouldn't it just open the file and read from it? Where's a socket here?
Regards,
Torsten

Yes it's nice to have an updated FAQ!
http://jdom.org/docs/faq.html
By the way, I thought of an additional sentence that improves the answer
to "Why does passing a document through a socket sometimes hang the
parser?".
After:
"Unfortunately, closing a SocketInputStream closes the underlying
SocketImpl, setting the file descriptor to null."
Add:
"The socket's output stream is useless after this, so your application
will be unable to send a response."
