The GPL has never claimed to apply to products merely bundled on the 
same CD or ZIP file. Were you to link Apache code to the GPL code, it 
would be a very different story.

Hopefully this will all be straightened out with GPL 3. In the meantime, 
XOM is published under the LGPL so it's completely compatible with the 
GPL and available for use in your GPL products.
