I've been looking at that functionality a little (and it's in the latest
TODO as something to investigate further).  What I'd like to get from
you is a list of specific and strong use cases where this ability would
provide benefit over the existing model.  That helps gather consensus
that such a thing should be added, and helps ensure the design chosen
satisfies the use cases well.
