[jdom-interest] outputting as document on a single line of text

Is there any way to output a document so that it is all on a single line?  I 
can get everything on one line except for the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Is there a way to get it all on one line, or to not output the <?xml 
version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> line at all?  Thanks.
