[jdom-interest] Using JDOM to search an Xml File

Hello All,

I want to search an xml file for a particular string.On Searching all the data a new xml file needs to be created with the searched data.I am a new user to JDOM and i am not sure whether the Filter interface can be of any use to my requirement.
Does the filter code traverse through the whole list again for getting the data.
The xml file can contain a large chunk of data. 
 
Will JDOM make the access faster then the conventional parsers .


Any help would be appreciated.
