[jdom-interest] Toward beta 9

I shouldn't have spoken so soon.  I will hearby renounce my earlier
opposition to it, especially since it's very poor form to drop in out
of nowhere and be critical.  

JDOM is an excellent api, I don't know what I'd do without it, and
anyway I'd wait until a profiler told me verification was a performance
issue before I started hacking the source (even then, a bad idea for
obvious reasons).

Back to lurkerville...
